East River shellfish was started by Dennis and Marie O’Shea in 1988 and has been shipping top quality mussels all over North America for 25 years. It is now operated by their son Mark and grandson Jimmy.
Although East River Shellfish remains a small family operation that ensures high quality mussels are shipped year round. With the owners hands on approach you can ensure your mussels will be fresh and of the highest quality. Proving big isn’t always better. The owners/operators personally handle every mussel from the seed stage to loading the final graded product onto the truck to ship direct to our customers.
History
In the early years everything was shoveled into the grader and pans were used to transport mussels from the boat to the processing plant. Now everything is transported in tanks and unloaded with fork lifts. This allows more time for quality control while grading the product.
East River Shellfish grows mussels out of Tracadie Bay, Savage Harbor & St Peters Bay PEI. This ensures top quality being handled from seed to market by the owners/operators.
